The standoff is not over between supporters and opponents of the deployment by the Electricity Transport Network (RTE) of a 400,000 volt overhead very high voltage line between Jonquières-Saint-Vincent, in the , and Fos-sur-Mer. Friday September 27, 2024, the Bouches-du-Rhône prefecture hosted the closing meeting of the first phase of consultation launched last February, around this project which must meet three objectives: participating in the decarbonization of industry in the Fos area, encourage the reception of new industrial activities and secure the electricity supply to the Paca region.

Biodiversity in the viewfinder

For this meeting, it was therefore a question of presenting the zone of least impact chosen to deploy this installation, which must inevitably cross areas among the richest in biodiversity and the most protected in the regional territory.

The zone – whose final route must still be precisely defined by a new consultation – plans to follow, to the north, an already existing 63,000 volt line from Jonquières. The Rhône would be crossed south of to join the RN 568, in Crau. Placed on the central reservation of the national road, it would go down to Fos.

If he validated the choice of this “West” zone, the prefect of Bouches-du-Rhône, Christophe Mirmand, recalls that the consultation phase is not over: he has therefore decided to add new stages to the calendar .
