More than 5,000 people have passed through its doors in one year. The Ski Museum celebrates its first anniversary on Sunday. Opened in September 2023, the Boéchet institution offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the history of this winter sport. The museum highlights some of the thousands of pairs of skis collected by the Franc-Montagnard Laurent Donzé. The curator draws a positive assessment of this first year of existence. “We didn’t have a very specific objective, but the number of visitors is high. There is quantity, but also people’s satisfaction. Through word of mouth, many people bring their family and friends,” explains Laurent Donzé. According to the enthusiast, visitors come from all over Switzerland, but also from and Austria.

During this first year, the Ski Museum collaborated with other institutions and partners. He has, for example, participated in the publication of a reference book on skiing in our country or lent various objects for the next temporary exhibition at the Bolle Museum in Morges, which is dedicated to the illustrator Carlo Pellegrini. Sports historians have also expressed interest in the museum and its collections.

In the future, those responsible want to develop the permanent exhibition which tells the history of skiing and the temporary exhibition which focuses on current equipment used in competition in 11 disciplines. “Every museum must live. We can change objects, or even propose other themes altogether. Given the collection, we imagine advertising in skiing or even snowboarding,” says Laurent Donzé.

The curator adds that a total inventory of the material must be carried out in the coming years. “The objects are there, but we have to attach identification sheets to them so that the people who come after us know what this material represents,” underlines the founder of the Ski Museum.

To mark this first anniversary, a guided tour is offered on Sunday at 10 a.m. Registration by email is required. /alr
