SWITZERLAND – Two players return home

The four previously announced NHL reinforcements join the team this week. Conversely, a goalkeeper and an attacker will no longer be part of the “Road to Prague” adventure. Other adaptations made to the collective will be communicated in due course.

At the end of the third week of preparation for the Worlds, three players from the New Jersey Devils joined the team of head coach Patrick Fischer: the goalkeeper Akira Schmid, defender Jonas Siegenthaler and attacker Nico Hischier. Additionally, Chicago Blackhawks forward Philip Kurashev is also integrated into the collective. The question of the tenure of players from ZSC Lions and Lausanne HC, who are playing tomorrow evening in the decisive of the play-off final, will be resolved in due time.

Goalkeeper Philip Wüthrich leaves the Swiss national team, as does striker Marc Marchon. Other adaptations to the selection will be communicated during the week.

Breakout Game against Sweden in Kloten and signing session

In addition to numerous training units on and off the ice, the Swiss team will face Sweden on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 7:45 p.m. at the stimo arena in Kloten, as part of the Breakout Game of the Betano Hockey Games. Tickets for this match, in which the NHL reinforcements will participate, are available at www.sihf.ch/ticketmaster as well as at the evening box office.

The next day, Friday May 3, 2024, the team will fly to Brno (CZE), where they will play the other two matches of the Betano Hockey Games, Saturday against Finland and Sunday against Czechia.

Furthermore, a signing session will take place on , May 1, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Allegra Lodge Hotel in Kloten.
