-USA-ENTREPRENEURSHIP / Sédhiou: launch of a project to formalize 60 companies – Senegalese press agency

Sédhiou, April 29 (APS) – A project to formalize 60 companies in the Sédhiou region (south) was launched with the aim of boosting the turnover of the local private sector, noted, Monday, the correspondent of the ‘APS.

The company Sowranch and its technical partner USAID Entrepreneurship & Investment launched this initiative.

”This project aims to support project leaders in the creation of their businesses and the formalization, their empowerment, thanks to the support of USAID Entrepreneurship & Investment,” explained Aminata Ly, the general director of Sowranch, a agroecological farm based in Kolda (south).

”This project will […] allow project leaders to be able to legalize their businesses and to be able to seize opportunities,” she assured.

Ms. Ly specifies that ”this program is dedicated to innovation and job opportunities for young people and women [de deux] southern regions, namely Kolda and Sédhiou, through USAID Entrepreneurship & Investment”.

According to Pape Ba Kane, an agent of the USAID Entrepreneurship & Investment Project, this is the first intervention of the formalization project for the benefit of Sédhiou entrepreneurs.

The initiative mainly consists of registering companies, issuing them a national identification number and registering them in the commercial register.

Pape Ba Kane adds that the project also takes care of the production of companies, as well as the processing, marketing and conservation of their products.

”This initiative aims to support entrepreneurs in Sédhiou by simplifying formalization procedures and encouraging innovation and job creation in the region,” explained Mr. Kane.
”This program is dedicated to innovation and job opportunities for young people and women in the southern regions, namely Kolda and Sédhiou, through USAID Entrepreneurship & Investment,” he said. .
