“We are delighted with his visit and his article about us,” says Jennifer Mac Donald. With her husband Don, they discovered the ranking produced by Andrew Eames on the best places to stay in Dordogne.

“We are very happy to be first!”smiles the American host who opened five rooms at Belet Castle in Saint-Aquilinjust one year ago, in May 2023. “It’s great to have this recognition for what we want to do here, we have a product that people love, they love the experience, the beauty of the countryside, they get to know the Dordogne.”

The journalist spent three nights

The British journalist came “about a month ago’, says Jennifer Mac Donald, “he was with his wife. They stayed with us for three nights, but we thought he was on vacation, we didn’t know he was writing an article”. Andrew Eames, who describes himself as “a specialist in the Dordogne”, selected 25 accommodations throughout the Dordognethe Roc mill in Champagnac-de-Belair, the Araucanie farm in Tourtoirac, the Château de la Forge in Douville, and the Château Madame in Mauzens-et-Miremont for the first five.

An international clientele

The couple is flattered to appear at the top of the Times ranking; they welcome an international clientele from Europe (Germany, Great Britain, among others), but also from the United States and Korea, to Saint-Aquilin. “we love opening our doors and showing others, so they can experience it and love it as much as we do.”
