Rally Goury in The Hague (Channel) in Lisbon (Portugal) by bike, this is the crazy challenge that Stéphane Corlay and Alexis Caron took on. THE two friendsrespectively originating from Côtes-d’Armor and some Sleeveare two passionate about cycling. Together they had already crossed the Franceto reach Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) in 2022.
“We carried out this project and everything went well,” says Stéphane Corlay. After this journey, people who had followed us on the networks asked us why we hadn’t driven for a association. We never really thought about this question, we were just thinking about challenging ourselves among friends at the time. »
“This association was close to my heart because my brother died of this disease”
This time, the two men are aiming even further south, and intend to send a message.
“This year, we said to ourselves that we were going to do it again. We will leave, once again, from Goury, to go to Lisbon. We chose Lisbon in particular because Alexis’ son studies there. For the occasion, we had to represent a worthy cause. I chose AFSEP (French association of multiple sclerosis patients). This association was close to my heart because my brother died of this disease. In my familyI also have my great-niece who contracted multiple sclerosis. It is an association providing aid and support for sick. »
For the occasion, the friends created a small association, named Armorique Cotentin Cycling Challenges, in reference to their origins.
We are supported by a sponsor who is a young local cycling champion. His name is Matteo Viardot and will certainly be at the start on May 1st and will accompany us for a few kilometers.
They also opened an account on HelloAsso to collect donations, which will be donated directly to the association. The route takes 1,900 kilometersthe friends will try to complete it in 9 days, from 1er to May 9.
In the colors of AFSEP
In terms of equipment, they have an equipment manufacturer Breton who provided them with equipment in the colors of theAFSEP, to represent it throughout their journey. They leave with the repair kits, spare clothesand will stay in Airbnb or in hotelthroughout the route.
Together they hope raise awareness at this disease And to collect funds to support AFSEP. Those interested will be able to follow their journey via Facebook.
