Météo-France had placed the Landes department in orange alert for thunderstorms, this Saturday April 27. Alert which was felt around 3 p.m. this afternoon, particularly in the town of Saint-Paul-Lès-Dax. A violent storm caused roof tiles to fly off several houses in the area of ​​rue des Écureuils. Four of them were damaged.

Uprooted by the winds, a tree also fell on a vehicle parked in the neighborhood, near homes. The damage remains only material. The firefighters covered the roofs and the residents were able to return to their homes. In total, the Landes SDIS carried out around twenty interventions in the Dax sector to clear trees that have fallen on the roadway or on power lines, and to dry out homes that have taken on water.

Météo France noted gusts sometimes exceeding 70km/h in the Landes. “On Saturday evening, sometimes strong thunderstorms will continue to circulate over the southwest of the country”, warns the meteorological institute. “They will present intense electrical activity, could cause violent gusts of wind (of the order of 80 to 100 km/h), heavy precipitation and falls of hail”, specifies Météo France.
