Currently traveling to Saudi Arabia to observe the Moroccan players playing in the local football championship, national coach Hoalid Regragui took the opportunity to denounce certain indiscretions on his footballing future in the columns of the famous Saudi sports daily “Arriyadiyah”.
Asked by a journalist from the publication about the possibility of coaching one day in the country of Al-Saud, Hoalid Regragui said he was open to it, just as he does not rule out sitting on the bench of a club non-Saudi Arab in the future, he who already has experience in Qatar at the start of the decade (where he led the Al-Duhail club to the championship title in 2019-2020). Even if, he affirmed, his priority remains for the moment the Moroccan team, and his ambition is to later move towards Europe, as he has been saying for a very long time anyway.
With the Atlas Lions, Hoalid Regragui is currently preparing for the African Cup of Nations (CAN) to be hosted by the Kingdom in the summer of 2025, which should constitute an opportunity for him to make up for the failure of the last edition in January and February 2024 in Ivory Coast, where his team failed to make it past the round of 16 even though the initially stated objective was at least the semi-finals. But there is also the challenge of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, for which the national team must play two qualifying matches against Zambia and Congo in June 2024.
