Who would’ve believed that? With a recycling rate of 39% in 2022, Belgium is the European leader in plastic recycling, well above the European average of 27%. This is what emerges from a study carried out by the Plastics Europe federation, the results of which were presented on the occasion of the Belgian Plastics Day organized by the Belgian federations essenscia PolyMatters and Agoria this Thursday. In terms of packaging, the figures are even more telling: more than one in two plastic packaging (56%) is recycled, the best score recorded in Europe. However, the entire European plastics industry is losing its competitiveness. essenscia PolyMatters and Agoria call on governments at all levels to view plastics with an open mind.
