Predator fishing: the rules to know in Yonne

This Saturday, April 27, 2024 marks the opening of predator fishing in Yonne. When to fish, where, how many fish can you catch? Here are the rules to know in the department.

The opening of predator fishing (pike and zander) in the second fish category takes place this Saturday, April 27, 2024, in Yonne. Here are the rules to know in Yonne.

When to fish?

Fishing is permitted half an hour before sunrise and up to half an hour after sunset. On April 27, for the opening of predator fishing, it will therefore be possible to fish from 6:08 a.m. until 9:27 p.m.

Where to fish?

The Yonne Fishing Federation has an interactive map which provides all the information on fishing spots. All fishing is prohibited in devices ensuring the circulation of fish in structures built in the bed of watercourses as well as in sluices, sluices and in water passages inside buildings. The list of temporary fishing reserves in the department can be consulted on the website of the Yonne Fishing Federation.

Fishing for predators in the part of Lake Crescent (Morvan) located upstream of Pont de Queuzon is, moreover, deferred for four weeks by prefectural decree.

As a reminder, any person who engages in fishing in open waters must join an approved Association for Fishing and the Protection of the Aquatic Environment (AAPPMA) and pay an aquatic environment fishing contribution ( CPMA). This obligation also applies to local property owners fishing on their property.

What do we keep?

For predator fishing, the quota is three predators per day and per fisherman, including a maximum pike. In Yonne, only the harvesting of pike measuring between 60 and 80 cm is authorized.

On the other hand, we do not sell anything: selling the product of one’s fishing without having the status of professional freshwater fisherman is punishable by a fine of 3,750 euros (article L 436-15 of the environmental code). The fine can reach €22,500 for the sale of certain species during a period when their fishing is prohibited.
