The defendant does not raise his voice. “I have nothing against you sir, it’s because I want to have my rights respected”, assures the 23-year-old man. The latter already has mentions for violence in a prison environment in 2020. He appeared in emergency procedure after two episodes of violence committed at the Saint-Maur power station, on March 24, 2024, against three guards, initially, then on four others by resisting them.
On April 5, it was at the Craquelin penitentiary center, in Saint-Maur, that he allegedly committed further violence. This time, he is being prosecuted for acts of violence, punching and kicking four guards.
30 days of ITT for a prison officer
At Craquelin, two of the supervisors had three-day ITTs and the fourth, thirty days of ITT. The blows to the chest caused respiratory complications on the victim.
The defendant requested a delay in his judgment. “I know that the case as it stands could be judged but the gentleman wishes to file a complaint against the prison administration and present information at the hearing”explained his lawyer Me Meslem.
A choice to postpone the hearing little appreciated by the president of the court. “Let no one then say that justice is slow”, decided the latter. The judgment deadline is by right for each defendant in immediate appearance. Judgment will take place on May 16.
