SENEGAL-FRANCE-CULTURE / Three digital-oriented cultural spaces inaugurated in Dakar – Senegalese press agency

Dakar, April 23 (APS) – Spaces of expression, learning and discovery focused on digital were inaugurated Monday at the French Institute, the Théodore Monod Museum and the Museum of Black Civilizations as part of the project called “micro-madness” intended to strengthen the cultural ecosystem and the attractiveness of museums, noted the APS.

This project is implemented thanks to a partnership between the Fundamental Institute of Black Africa (IFAN), the French Institute and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture.

The three spaces of expression, learning and discovery are sheltered by the French Institute of Senegal, the Théodore Monod museum and the Museum of Black Civilizations.

The main objective of the project is to “structure and strengthen the attractiveness of Senegalese museums and cultural spaces through the prism of greater digital inclusion, to support Senegal in its desire to develop and strengthen its cultural ecosystem ”, according to its initiators.

”+Micro-folie+ is a digital-oriented space for expression, learning and discovery whose aim is to promote culture, show existing cultural content and participate in cultural and artistic education”, has says Abdoulaye Sy, in charge of cultural mediation at the Théodore Monod museum.

“Its target is schools and the young segment of the population,” he said, explaining that itThese new spaces will make it possible to “browse the digital collections of major national museums using connected screens and mediation devices”.

According to him, “they will also make it possible to host several forms of shows, to encourage exchanges between artists, local associations, mediators, residents, etc.”

Mr. Sy indicated that these spaces are designed to offer an immersive museum experience to visitors.

“They also integrate advanced digital technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, and interactive screens to present works of art, virtual exhibitions, artistic performances, among others,” he further emphasized.

He explained that the so-called “micro-madness” spaces “also serve as an educational platform by offering educational programs and workshops for schools and community groups.”

“They thus contribute to raising awareness among younger generations of the importance of culture and art,” said Mr. Sy, who is also responsible for the “micro-madness” space at the Théodore Monod museum.

As an illustration, the “micro-folie” festival organized from April 15 to 27 at the Théodore Monod museum has already received, during the last weekend, the visit of 432 students and 80 people made up mainly of members of the students’ families, according to those responsible for this festival.
