The Uncensored exhibition! takes place from April 24 to June 16 at the Arteméum cultural center in Langres.

The Uncensored exhibition! aims to highlight the works of female artists who have addressed the female and male nude. It takes place from April 24 to June 16 at the Arteméum cultural center in Langres.

The depiction of full nudity, male or female, has traditionally been reserved for male artists. Even if the male nude is approached by female artists during the Renaissance until the 20the century, it is limited to asexual children and adolescents.

However, after 1918, things changed and women drew more and more nudes, both male and female.

In Europe, the male nude with his genitals exposed will only be visible in the works of female artists from the 20th century.e century.

Exhibition and video

This exhibition covers the Michans collection, which includes hundreds of drawings, paintings and engravings, by female artists from different countries and different periods. More than 300 nudes and semi-nudes are represented.

In this artistic walk, artists from the United States are the most represented. They approach the nude, especially male, with an audacity that is often more pronounced than in the works of their European neighbors.

However, follow-up artists from the United Kingdom, Poland and the Netherlands know how to stand out as well.
