Created in 1893, Human Rights is the second oldest Masonic organization in France and the first mixed, thanks to the foundations initiated by its two founders, Maria Deraismes and Georges Martin. “In the context in which we live, it seems important to us to highlight this founder who, thanks to her intelligence and her talent as an orator, succeeded in normalizing the place of women in Freemasonry, even if the progression was long and tedious,” explain Jacquie Dubourg and Claudine Pietri, members of Human Rights for several decades.

A little jaded that their organization is prey to many fantasies of novelists or filmmakers, they wish, without breaking the duty of reserve to which they are subject, to unravel some preconceived ideas.

“Freemasonry is not a sect but a group of deeply apolitical people, attached to secularism, the values of the Republic and living together who meet regularly,” they explain. Firstly to reflect and debate together on major social issues, to synthesize our work and make it available to all political parties, except the RN. We are a reservoir of ideas that aspires to contribute to civic and social life. »

“But entering Freemasonry also means agreeing to work on oneself and one’s convictions, accepting questioning with humility, within the ritualized and symbolic framework that governs our thinking. »

Exceptionally, Human Rights is organizing, Saturday April 27 in Clairac (in a location communicated upon registration) a meeting open to the uninitiated, on the themes of diversity and the concrete action of the lodge in society . The opportunity to go beyond stereotypes, “without proselytism or desire to recruit”, assure the two members.
