Météo has issued an orange weather warning for the “rain-flooding and storms” parameter from Tuesday, September 17, 9 p.m. to Wednesday, September 18, 9 p.m. at the earliest.

Rainfall begins this Tuesday afternoon, taking on a stormy character in the evening. Sustained hourly intensities are expected, between 20 and 30 mm per hour. They will continue until at least Wednesday evening. The accumulations expected over the episode are of the order of 80 to 100 mm widespread, with up to 150 mm locally.

Rain and storm lines coming from the sea will sometimes be accompanied by small hail, and will affect the eastern plain, the region, the Cap as well as the eastern foothills (Castagniccia, Cortenais, Nebbiu).

The Haute-Corse prefecture calls on the population to be extremely vigilant and reminds them of the precautionary measures:

  • Avoid any demonstration that would take place outdoors
  • Do not enter, on foot or by car, a submerged road,
  • Respect the diversions put in place,
  • Do not take shelter under trees,
  • Report fires caused by lightning strikes immediately,
  • Follow the instructions given by the security services,
  • Do not use telephones or electrical equipment,
  • Avoid walks in the forest and outings in the mountains,
  • In flood zones, keep furniture out of the water and monitor rising water levels.
  • Do not walk along the banks of rivers located downstream of dams,
  • Listen to the radio station France Bleu RCFM and France3 Corse Via Stella. It is advisable to find out about the development of the episode:
