For women’s rugby, the three clubs in South Finistère are linked to form teams comprising players from Quimperlé, and Concarneau. The Rugby Olympique Club Kemperle (Rock) organised the training session on Friday 13 September 2024, in Kervidanou. “The seniors and cadets have two sessions per week, on Tuesday from 7.30pm to 9pm, in Concarneau, and on Friday, at the same times, but alternating between the Quimper and Quimperlé pitches,” explains Christelle Goudedranche, the seniors’ coach, also a member of the Rock.

Two teams in the championship

Last year, the women’s team came 2nd in the regional championship. “As for the cadets, it’s a repeat, because we weren’t able to enter a team last season. This time, we’ll have both teams at regional level and even at the Grand-Ouest level. The youngsters will open their season on September 28 and the seniors on October 4.” For these categories, 10-a-side rugby is played.

Leisure “touch” rugby

“We also have women in “touch” rugby, in leisure, with a mixed practice without tackling. But it runs a lot,” says Christelle Goudedranche. Rock takes registrations all year round. The open house event, organized Friday evening in Quimperlé, welcomed a few beginners who came to try this sport.

In total, the Rock has about ten licensed players, but there are many more within the agreement associating the three clubs. For the senior team alone, 25 players meet every week for training.
