Was the attack on Philippe, a 22-year-old young man who died at the hands of several individuals in Grande-Synthe (North), premeditated? This is one of the questions still pending, after the events that occurred during the night from Monday to Tuesday. According to our information, the young social worker would have been registered on the free dating site Coco and he would have had a meeting with a young woman. But the latter was allegedly the victim of an ambush and was beaten before dying from his injuries.

To make matters worse, it was one of his attackers who answered the phone when a friend of the victim tried to contact him on the evening of the attack, as one of his older brothers confirmed to us. He would have picked up “saying: yeah he can’t answer you, he’s on the ground”, testifies in the report at the top of this article Kelvyn, estimating that “It’s humiliation.”

This murder comes after at least two attacks took place in the town at the beginning of April and last weekend. The victims, two men, took refuge in shops but no link has yet been established between all these cases.

Friday at 11 a.m. a white march is organized by the city, whose residents say they are very shocked by the age of the two suspects arrested and in police custody, aged 14 and 15 respectively. “It’s not normal for kids of this age to act like that, I also think about their family, it’s difficult for everyone,” reacts in particular to Djamel, a teacher in one of the high schools in Grande-Synthe. “I think of my sons, in conditions like that it’s atrocious,” A resident, moved to tears, explains to us, placing flowers in the parking lot where Philippe was beaten to death. A second abounds: “It’s a disaster to see this, in fact the people I speak with are saddened and many are obviously afraid.”

The two alleged attackers, aged 14 and 15, are still in police custody Thursday evening, according to a press release from the public prosecutor’s office. They “will be presented to an investigating judge” Friday, added the prosecution which is conducting a criminal investigation for “murder by an organized gang”, entrusted to the judicial police.
