“My wife smelled something,” says one man. “I looked, I saw something unusual in the field,” he continues. “From a distance, it might have looked like a trunk. I found it strange, I went inside to get some binoculars. And there, I said ‘no but it’s not a tree’.”
Alerted, “the gendarmes immediately went to the site. All technical checks were carried out by criminal investigation technicians and the forensic doctor in the evening”, indicates the duty prosecutor in Dax.
The body is still not identified
This Monday, “a sweep of the entire area as well as a helicopter flight” were carried out. “Analyzes are underway to identify the deceased and an autopsy will be carried out in the coming days to determine the causes of death. At this stage, no lead is favored,” writes the Dax prosecutor’s office. “It’s scary, I didn’t sleep all night. I might need to talk to professionals about it,” confides a resident of the town.
Furthermore, without any link being established between the two files, the Landes gendarmerie published this Monday afternoon a call for witnesses concerning the disappearance of a 45-year-old man, Julien`L., in the commune of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul.
