The Clermont coach spoke of the great promise shown by a young scrum half who reminded him of that of Stade Toulousain in an interview for the Sports Daily.
Antoine Dupont has no equivalent, but could well have one in the coming decades. Launched by Serge Milhas in October 2014 during a Heineken Cup match against Leinster, the scrum-half was then taken over by Christophe Urios, now coach of ASM Clermont Auvergne. The latter, in an interview given to Sports Dailyconfided that a current young player reminded him of the captain of the French XV during the 2022 World Cup.

Arriving in Auvergne at the start of 2023, the native of Montpellier now has under his command a certain Baptiste Jauneau, scrum half crowned world champion under the age of 20 with the XV of France in 2023. “He’s a prodigy, he reminds me Toto Dupont that I had at Castres. He has the same physical and technical potential” confided the 58-year-old coach.
Also passing through Oyonnax and Bordeaux-Bègles, Urios also spoke about the players who marked his coaching career. “If we talk about relationships, loyalty, it’s Antoine Tichit. On the other hand, if we talk about big character at the highest level, it’s Benjamin Urdapilleta and Rory Kockott. If we talk about talent, it’s Matthieu Jalibert .” And not Antoine Dupont?
