A teacher at the Frères-Voisins nursery school in the 15th arrondissement of Paris was filmed hitting a three-year-old student in the back. A complaint has been filed.

A three-year-old girl was beaten by her teacher at the Frères-Voisins nursery school in the 15th arrondissement of Paris on September 4. The scene was filmed and the victim’s parents filed a complaint the following day.

The teacher was replaced in her class. The resigning Minister of National Education, Nicole Belloubet, requested “without delay” on Tuesday, September 10, the opening of disciplinary proceedings and the “immediate suspension” of the teacher.

• The student was starting his first year of school

The incident took place on September 4, in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. According to the victim’s mother, she dropped off her three-year-old daughter at the Frères-Voisins nursery school around 8:30 a.m.

The little girl was crying because it was her very first day at school. In the evening, when her mother picked her up, the little girl told her that her teacher had hit her on the back. But her mother then thought that the child was exaggerating, given her age.

• The scene filmed by another parent of a student

The next day, the student’s mother went to school to pick up her daughter. She was then stopped by another relative, whom she did not know, who showed her a video of the events of the previous day.

The footage shows a little girl crying before an adult hits her in the back. The student is then put in a corner, continuing to cry. We then see the teacher spraying a product in the direction of the little girl, saying to her: “There, does that feel good?”

The scene was filmed by a student’s mother. According to the little girl’s mother, the teacher did not notice her presence.

The child’s mother immediately filed a complaint at the Issy-les-Moulineaux police station. She gave a copy of the video to the police.

• “Severe psychological trauma”

The girl was examined by a general practitioner on Friday, September 6. In writing, the doctor states that the little girl “presents severe psychological trauma”: “She comes and goes, does not look people in the face.”

The mother explains that her daughter is “disturbed, anxious”. To this day, the little girl has still not returned to class. She must be re-examined by other health professionals.

“It will take time and specialists to get her back on her feet,” declared Vanessa Edberg, lawyer for the student’s parents, on Tuesday, September 10, on the BFMTV set.

• The teacher apologized to the family

According to several sources, the teacher had worked at this establishment for about ten years. On Tuesday, September 10, on the BFMTV set, the mayor of the 15th arrondissement, Philippe Goujon, drew up the profile of a teacher in her fifties who “does not normally let herself be carried away by these emotions.” “She is not discovering schooling in kindergarten,” assures the elected official.

The teacher was received on Friday, September 6 by the school principal and then by the district inspector, in the presence of a representative of a “school/family relations” association.

The teacher had 28 three-year-old students in her class. She was replaced in her class. She admitted the facts and apologized to the family.

• Nicole Belloubet requests the “immediate suspension” of the teacher

The resigning Minister of National Education, Nicole Belloubet, requested “without delay” this Tuesday, September 10, the opening of disciplinary proceedings and the “immediate suspension” of the teacher.

“These images are terribly shocking and unacceptable in our School. I have immediately requested the launch of disciplinary proceedings, with an immediate suspension of the professor. I send all my support to the victim and her family, who are being taken care of,” she wrote on the social network X (ex-Twitter).

• The mayor of the 15th arrondissement condemns an “unspeakable” act

On the BFMTV set this Tuesday, September 10, the mayor of the 15th arrondissement of Paris, Philippe Goujon, also mentioned the “unspeakable” behavior of the teacher.

“This is completely unsustainable. This behaviour is unspeakable, coming from a senior teacher who had been at this school for around ten years and about whom we obviously had no information of this type,” declared the councillor.

Phillipe Goujon asks the rectorate for more additional support resources. “We are short of staff,” admits the councilor who would like to “reduce the number of staff in this class.”

• The Academy’s rector gives his “full support” to the victim

Expected on site this Tuesday, September 10, the rector of the Paris academy Bernard Beignier gave his “full support” to the family and the victim, with the desire to “rebuild a relationship of trust with his school.”

“A child should not suffer an act of violence, especially not in a school, it is a radical contradiction. We take things very seriously,” he explains.

According to him, the teacher’s file reveals nothing. “She has been a teacher for many years,” he said. The teacher is now suspended. “I signed the order this morning at 9 o’clock,” confided the rector of the academy.

A criminal investigation and an administrative investigation have been launched. The latter could “most certainly lead to a disciplinary board,” says the rector of the Paris academy.

A psychological unit has been set up by the rectorate.
