1,500 young people will compare their know-how in around sixty professions from September 10 to 15 at Eurexpo Lyon. At the same time, a village of professions will be set up on Place Bellecour.

Shortly after the closing ceremony of the Paris Paralympic Games, a new world competition opens this Tuesday, September 10 in Lyon. The 47th edition of Wordskills will kick off at 7 p.m. at the LDLC Arena in Décines-Charpieu.

This will be followed by four days of competition during which 1,500 young people from 65 countries and from 62 different professions will compete with their expertise at Eurexpo Lyon, in Chassieu.

Six sectors of activity will be represented, including creative arts, construction and building technology and social and personal services. Entry is free, simply register online on the Worldskills website.

A village of trades in Place Bellecour

Beyond the competition, the aim of the event is also to introduce visitors to professions and allow them to attend conferences. The metropolis and the city of Lyon will also open a village of professions on Place Bellecour, in the 2nd arrondissement, from Wednesday 11 to Saturday 14 September.

At the same time, several companies in the Lyon metropolitan area will open their doors to visitors free of charge on September 13 and 14 to allow them to “discover or rediscover professions, talk with professionals and visit unusual places”, writes the city hall on its website. This will be the case, in particular, for the Brochier Soiries printing workshop, the TCL bus maintenance center and the zoological park.

The event will conclude with a closing ceremony at Groupama Stadium on Sunday 15 September, where the winners of each competition will be rewarded. A total of 250,000 visitors are expected over the six days of the event.
