Henri-Mondor hospital acquires an H145 helicopter, the second in Ile-de-France

The Samu team at Henri Mondor hospital in Val-de-Marne can now count on a new helicopter. Faster and larger, it can save lives in record time. It is the second aircraft of this type in the region.

It’s the Formula 1 of the air for the Samu: the H145. The new generation helicopter, based at the Henri-Mondor hospital in Val-de-Marne, can reach up to 260 km/h in top speed. The goal, to save lives in record time.

It can transport more medical equipment and more patients. “It’s a much larger helicopter that can carry three people from the medical team, which has a much larger cabin volume and a greater autonomy as well,” explains Alexandre Milleret, the aircraft’s pilot.

Second device in the region

To ensure the smooth running of an intervention, the pilot is accompanied by a flight assistant. “I help prepare and execute the mission with the pilot. I participate in the boarding, disembarkation of the medical team and everything that is part of the safety of the helicopter,” explains Pascal Folini.

Despite the advantages of this new aircraft, some difficulties remain. “The main constraints are the weather, the area where we have to land and possible airspace constraints,” says the H145 pilot.

This is the second device of this type in the Ile-de-France region. There is another one, specialized in civil security and based in Issy-les-Moulineaux.
