Camille Kouchner will move on to fiction by publishing, in April 2025, a novel, four years after the story The big family who denounced his father-in-law Olivier Duhamel as guilty of incest, his publisher announced Wednesday January 22. In the publication program of Éditions du Seuil sent to the press, the book which will be called Immortals is announced for April 4, as a “first novel”.
-The only element of presentation is an extract: “Growing up together gives you confidence. We share everything, without fear of lack. When one fails, the other takes over. When the second gets lost, the first helps him find himself. In this hospital bed, alone now, I count them down. With two, girl and boy, I was complete.” Éditions du Seuil then clarified that the two main characters of the novel are friends, a man and a woman.
In The big familyCamille Kouchner, daughter of former minister Bernard Kouchner and writer and political scientist Évelyne Pisier, recounted her close ties with her twin whom she renamed “Victor”. It was he who, according to her, was the victim of sexual assault and rape committed by Olivier Duhamel, their mother’s second husband, from 1988.
The politician, targeted by an investigation by the Paris prosecutor’s office opened immediately after the publication of the book in January 2021, admitted the facts during a hearing before the Minors Protection Brigade. But due to the statute of limitations on the facts, which dated back to the end of the 1980s, the case was not pursued in court.
Camille Kouchner, 49 years old, is presented by Le Seuil as “doctor of law, lecturer at university“.
