French fans have fun with the choice of the anthem for the Canadian version of the telecrochet

The Canadian version of the telecrochet chose the same song as the Star Ac French for her return to the screen in 2022: Don’t leave without meby Celine Dion.

Coincidence? There Star AcademyCanadian version of telecrochet, was chosen as an anthem Don’t leave without methe song of the Star Academy in in 2022.

The candidates of the Canadian program, returning to the screen in 2025, after 3 years of absence, sang on Sunday the song which allowed Céline Dion to win Eurovision for Switzerland in 1988. A cover which challenged some French fans, who see a lack of originality. “Déjà vu”, “original”, “memories of 2022” thus note Internet users on TikTok and X.

The Canadian telecrochet is produced and hosted by Jean-Philippe Dion. Garou is the director and Lara Fabian the godmother. By choosing an already known and modernized song, and not a title written for the occasion, the program returns to its beginnings.

Original titles

The first edition, in 2003, had the anthem And it’s not oversong from the 1970s, by Quebec singer Emmanuëlle. In 2012, it is You + Me by Grégoire who punctuated the program. But in 2020 and 2021, for its return, the Star Academy had opted for original titles, Now and everywhere by Hubert Lenoir and Change the worldby Canadian Laurence Nerbonne.

It’s Quentin Mosimann, winner of season 7 of the Star Academy in 2008, who adapted Céline Dion’s title for French telecrochet. Don’t leave without me was written and composed by Swiss singer Nella Martinetti and Turkish-Swiss composer Atilla Atilla Şereftuğ.

The class of 2022, with Anisha, Enola, Léa, Louis and even Chris made it a hit, ranked 91st in the Top Singles in France. TF1 relaunched the program that year, after a ten-year absence, with Michael Goldman as promotion director and Robbie Williams as godfather. It was Anisha Jo who won this season.
