On January 2, The Bigdil will be back on RMC Story. As during its broadcast between 1998 and 2004 on TF1, the game will be hosted by Vincent Lagaf’. Viewers will also be able to find the essential Bill, the blue alien and virtual character of the program, whose voice will always be that of Gilles Vautier.
For Vincent Lagaf’, this return of the cult game could only happen on one condition: that the original formula be reused. “I never chased Le Bigdil. I was offered to do it again three times and I always refused. The first didn’t have the funds, the second just wanted to make a move, and the third was a myth. The fourth time, I accepted because I was given the means and the possibility of recording it as I wanted. It’s Antoine Henriquet from Ah! Production who called me and told me that he had the possibility of taking over the rights to Bigdil. I called his partner, Arthur, who told me I could go with my eyes closed. I said: banco, we’ll do it!“, he explains to us.
Vincent Lagaf’: “At TF1, I pissed people off”
This Thursday, December 25, the host was a guest on the show Legendbroadcast on YouTube. Facing Guillaume Pley, Vincent Lagaf’ spoke about different aspects of his personal life, but also his career. When the game was broadcast on TF1, he was a real star and one of the strong men of the channel. A situation which was not without consequences on his attitude and his state of mind. “At TF1, I allowed myself things that I could not allow today. I was pissing people off, and even then I’m being polite. I hung up on broadcast directors and told them ‘you’re breaking my neck’. When you bring in close to 40% of a channel’s turnover in advertising, we’re not going to do without you. You’re untouchable. You know that when it stops, you’re going to pay dearly. But you benefit. When it stops, you don’t complain though“, he explains.
This state of mind also translated financially for the host, who did not hesitate to spend fortunes on impulse.
Vincent Lagaf’ without filter on his financial follies: “A walking wallet, I was stupid”
With his status as a true star, Vincent Lagaf’ thought he could afford everything, but also treat himself to everything whenever he wanted. “I became a financial dick. When you don’t win a dime for 30 years, and suddenly you win the Lotto every day… At one point you come into Jaguar and you say: ‘I’d like this one’. They tell you there is a six-month deadline. I say: ‘No, you don’t understand. I want her, I’m waiting for you. They tell me we can’t. I then said: ‘Okay then I’ll take this one, this one and this one. Here I’ll write you the check’“, he recalls.
Remembering this time, Vincent Lagaf’ feels a feeling of disconnection. “I’m always a little ashamed to say this stuff. It’s not me anymore today. I couldn’t wait. When your name is Lagaf, suddenly the door opens for you. We’re moving an appointment to see you, you feel like you’re important. But no, you’re a walking wallet and you’re very stupid because you think it’s for you. I lost my temper“, he adds.
