Since last September, the Tempo music school has changed “home”. Accommodated until last June in the premises of the community of communes in the artisanal zone, the municipality offered them the opportunity to come and settle at the Maison du Solier.
To thank her, the office and the teachers invited the municipal council for a moment of discovery and conviviality. The president, Isabelle Boffelli, recalled some important stages in the establishment of this music school in Villeneuve. It was in 2009 that it all started.
A group of music teachers, supported by Philippe Lestang, municipal councilor at the time, allowed this school to see the light of day to settle, first, in the former gendarmerie. 35 students are then registered. Until 2014, courses were held in the bungalows at the campsite, before being taught in the craft zone for 10 years.
The COVID episode seems to have had an impact on enrollment, since teachers noticed a drop in registrations. The objective is clearly to support students in their musical project.
In individual or group lessons, teachers do not prepare students for a diploma but provide them with all the knowledge necessary to master music theory and playing an instrument. In the presence of the Mayor, a tour of the premises allowed participants to see the efforts made to personalize the places but above all to adapt the premises according to musical practices. In particular, there is a space for musical awakening.
The teachers present provide lessons in accordion, singing, musical awareness, drums, guitar, violin, flute, piano and music theory. They then offered a small concert, of very high quality, which delighted the participants.
The mayor said he was satisfied with the establishment of this school in the heart of the bastide, a moment of exchanges and conviviality concluded this meeting.
These teachers, field musicians, speak to the people of the region, they currently have the ambition of creating a small orchestra, a children's choir. For those interested it is possible to join this school, information on 06 03 43 33 35 or 06 13 54 50 48.
