What's new in Megève? Our must-haves for winter 2025

With its share of embellished addresses and the ambition to become the capital of Alpine cuisine, Megève displays a contagious dynamism.

Megève sees winter in a big way. The Haute-Savoie resort cultivates selective addresses and this season will be no exception. The proof.

The Lodge Park, beautiful in a 5-star version

v
Guillaume Grasset

A must in Megève, the Sibuet family is inaugurating its Lodge Park this year in a 5-star version, and largely renovated. Marie and Nicolas, brothers and sisters, have preserved the spirit of a trappers' refuge but combine influences from the far north, Native Americans, tartan… matching as they know how the wooden log atmosphere on the walls and headers of bed, with wool sheets signed Ralph Lauren, tanned leathers.

The result is at the height of the fireplace fires, warm, comforting. In addition to new 50 m2 suites designed like small apartments, there is also an 800 m2 spa which adds to the overall experience of this hotel in the heart of the village. And for carnivores, the Beef Lodge already promises exceptional meats (with a T-Bone from Abondance sourced as closely as possible) cooked in an Argentinian oven.

YOU and ANATA… one place, two gourmet counters

The young chef Julien Gatillon adds to his innovative concept of gourmet table d'hôte inaugurated 4 years ago, an original address structured around the concept of counters. In marble on the ground floor, with a discovery of the tasteful and textured cuisine of chef Jean Pastre who delivers a frank and readable score, here largely nourished by flowers and alpine plants.

In an all-wood atmosphere upstairs, and for a traditional Omakasé cuisine experience (the only one in Megève) executed by suhsi master Keiji Ishii and chef Yohan Delhommeau. In both cases, short circuit, tailor-made dishes and no more than 14 front-row seats for precise cuts and high-level presentations for the disciples of the adopted Mègevan chef.

A new destiny for Les Chalets d’Arbois

Michelin-starred chef Amélie Darvas, who works in Hérault, will hold her pop-up winter table, Âme.

Guillaume Muletier, founder of the Beyond Places group (Altapura in Val Thorens, ILY Hotels in La Rosière, etc.), acquires the legendary address of the Edmond de Rothschild family, which has 40 keys, including 8 suites distributed in 3 chalets (which can be privatized ). Refreshed initially, the places join Les Petites Maisons, a new collection from the young hotel brand which is distinguished by establishments on a human scale, more intimate.

The immediate strong point? The choice of the excellent starred chef Amélie Darvas, who works in Vailhan, in Hérault, and who will host her ephemeral winter table, Âme. We find its signature, the vegetal, barely warmed with Savoyard notes.

Return to Megève for Marc Veyrat

The chef with the hat returns to Megève more than 20 years after inaugurating La Ferme de mon Père there. Same spirit, same requirement with a “high definition” table in an authentic chalet that he designed as his own, with his wife Christine.

For a complete experience, you stay in one of the three guest rooms, ultra stylish and worth the night if only for the breakfast, perhaps the best in the Alps. In the dining room with 18 seats, an ultra-scripted menu, which is inspired by mountain herbs to experience the taste of a real walk in the forest. Christine, fire cook, alternates with the chef to offer “hearth cuisine”.

Le Prieuré, Emmanuel Renaut's new bistro

As usual, we find all the mountain codes.
Hugo PAGET

It is an emblematic restaurant of Megève, a story of three generations, and now that of the starred chef who gives it new impetus. The chef-owner has not distorted anything and we find all the mountain codes – wooden tables, moumoute on the chairs, exposed beams and fireplace.

On the menu, nothing pretentious but a real mountain bistronomy with the soft-boiled egg with wild mushrooms, the beef chuck with mondeuse and the floating island with Saint Genix pralines. A few hundred meters from the bistro, and on another more gastronomic register, the chef is setting up his temporary table this winter.

Prieuré menu at €40, allow €75 a la carte. leprieure-megeve.com

The accessible table, Le Café de la Place

A low-cost card in Megève.

Taken over by the team at Café de la Place in Talloires (on the banks of Lake ), this table gains bistro codes (and reasonable prices) with a slate ceiling on which the Annecy artist Hepoe has declined the menu , with a daily special at €17 all year round and a lunch menu at €35.

Among the dishes, some bests of comfort like the XXL homemade croque-monsieur and the Beaufort shells, ham on the bone and perfect egg served in their fondue pot. Fans, don't miss out on the lemon tart topped with an ultra-generous homemade meringue.

Allow €15 for a salad, €30 for a nice piece of meat, tel: 04 57 27 79 51
