After Beaubreuil, the Mobile Museum (MuMo) opens to the public in Vigenal and Val de l’Aurence in Limoges

On the open square of Beaubreuil, a red and white truck shines. This one does not contain any goods or livestock, no. This truck is the MuMo, a nomadic museum founded by Ingrid Brochard and designed by Matali Crasset. Since its departure from Angoulême on October 11, it has housed the exhibition Drawing in all its forms.

“Breaking invisible borders”

An exhibition imagined by the International City of Comics and Images in partnership with the Poitou-Charentes Regional Contemporary Art Fund (Frac). “The objective of this project is really to facilitate access to culture,” says Sophie Lacointe, deputy director of the Drac. It’s breaking down these invisible boundaries between populations and culture.” As such, the MuMo is visiting Limoges in the priority districts of Beaubreuil, Vigenal and Val de l’Aurence and visits are free.

The MuMo welcomes, in partnership with the Limougeauds social centers and the support of the City of Limoges, children. “Ingrid Brochard, founder of MuMo, did not have the chance to go to the museum when she was a child,” says Lucie Avril, operational director of the mobile museum. When the museum was created in 2017, she wanted to share her passion with as many people as possible, particularly children. Every other step, we go either to a village or to a priority district. In the neighborhoods in particular, there is a symbolic threshold to exceed. The idea is to bring the museum to them so that who knows, so that they can go there in turn.”

By visiting isolated villages and the heart of priority neighborhoods in the region, MuMo promotes the arts. Whether it is contemporary art, like here with an exhibition around comics, or not, since there are other trucks, the “MuMo x Center Pompidou” for example.
