He is a newcomer on the Quai des Chartrons in Bordeaux. The bar Trumpet opened Wednesday December 11, 2024. And already, the tables are filling up.
“We wanted to create a place nice and warm with a quality offer, without excessive prices,” say the co-managers. Friends for 10 years, Maxime, Franck, Paul and Yann are at the head of this new bar. And they are not unknown to Bordeaux cocktail lovers: the last three have already been co-managers of La Comtesse for five years.
“Make the Chartrons move”
For this new adventure, they turned their gaze towards the Quai des Chartrons. “There are quite a few bars on the other side of Quinconces, we said to ourselves why not launch the dynamic of this side of the quays”, explains Frank.
“There isn’t much of a festive bar offering, even though there are student schools in the area,” adds Maxime. “We want to do move the Chartrons, but without disturbing the neighbors! », he wants to reassure.
Because the heart of the project is to create a neighborhood bar, a need that they strongly felt. “We were really expected,” emphasizes Paul. “Already, during the work, we were asked for the opening date. »
And since then, customers have been there. “We are very happy, we have already a small success”, rejoice the co-managers who inaugurated the establishment in style on Friday December 13.
Billiards, football and library
Trompette does not only have location as an advantage. The drinks menu takes pride of place aux cocktails which make La Comtesse so successful, without forgetting the beers with a happy hour from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A modest catering offer is available at the moment.
The bar has around forty seats. a terrace, the same inside. But the managers are also counting on people being up in the evening, especially when they put on concerts – one of their projects.
Two TVs allow you to broadcast the matches sports. “In the first room, there will be the big football and rugby matches. In the second, sport will be broadcast more regularly,” explains Maxime.
In this second room, the atmosphere has been particularly designed to have two distinct spaces. A pool table, armchairs and a library wall create a “warmer” atmosphere, explain the managers.
A good deal and a good deed
While the friends were setting up the back room, the idea of a bookcase wall seduced them. “We went to Saint-Michel to find good deals,” says Paul. Problem: their budget was too tight for the price asked by a seller.
The four friends therefore made an offer to the bookseller: “We offered to buy him all his books for 100 euros. » Offer accepted, the accomplices recovered 3,000 pounds. 700 of them, hardcover books, adorn the shelves of the bar’s library. “We gave the remaining books to an association,” explains Paul.
In addition to being decorative, and contributing to the atmosphere of the second room, the works can delight literature lover during a reading break.
But why “Trumpet”, anyway? “It’s not easy to find a name for four people,” laugh the co-managers who have exhausted a list of “hundreds of names.” » Finally, Trompette got them to agree on the sound, similar to “pompoutte”, and evoking music. Afterward, admits one of the co-managers, the old castle located on the Quinconces esplanade came to mind.
Trompette is located at 107 quai des Chartrons. Open 7 days a week, from 1:30 p.m. to 2 a.m.
