“Dare, that’s what Bashung taught me” –

This Monday, November 25, 2024, Gaëtan Roussel lit up the RTL2 studios with his charismatic presence and his captivating music. Invited by Eric Jean-Jean, the artist performed his new single Unforgettable and paid tribute to Alain Bashung with a poignant cover of Residents of the Republic.

During the interview, Gaëtan Roussel talked about his musical influences, particularly Britpop. Although he discovered Blur late, it was through Gorillaz that he truly appreciated the work of Damon Albarn. “What I like about Damon Albarn’s approach is that he tried to create several groups that are not at all similar,” he confided, emphasizing the impact of this creativity on his own journey.

Collaborations and discoveries

L’album Eclect! was an opportunity for the singer to surround himself with varied talents, such as Adeline Lovo and Renaud Rebillaud. “It was about continuing to discover things and therefore through contact with others, doors open,” he explained. These collaborations allowed him to explore new facets of his music, while remaining faithful to his artistic identity.
