The son of Daniel de Funès, son born from the great actor's first marriage, returned again, to our colleagues at C8, to the family dissensions which separated the family after 1983.
“We cannot ask more of the Volfoni than of the sons of Charlemagne…” wrote Michel Audiard for the dialogue of Uncle gunslingers. This funny outburst has never been so relevant since more than forty years after the death of Louis de Funès, – indisputable sacred monster of comic gesture -, Laurent de Funès, the son of Daniel de Funès born from the first marriage of the actor, has just returned to the conflicts which agitated the descendants of the famous actor after his disappearance on January 27, 1983.
“…He is gold, Monsignor”The posthumous revelations of Laurent de Funès once again resemble a mythical cinema scene, this time The Madness of grandeur by Gérard Oury. At the microphone of celebrity journalist Jordan De Luxe, he did not hesitate to stir up old family resentments by evoking in particular “a dirty money story”engineered, according to him, by Jeanne de Funès, the second wife of the famous actor.

Despite these inheritance problems, Laurent de Funès, it seems, remembers that his father maintained good relations for a long time with Patrick and Olivier de Funès, his cousins, the sons of Louis and Jeanne: « My father (Daniel Editor's note), at the beginning, had very good relations with Olivier, he loved him very much. Patrick, there was no problem at the beginning either, but Jeanne distracted the whole family, so they no longer saw each other. I think there was a story of buying rights, a dirty money story. It's always like this ».
Since these heartbreaks, which he visibly has difficulty forgetting, Laurent de Funès has continued to bring to life the artistic connection which links him to his grandfather. In 2010, with Marthe Mercarder, who had played Feydeau with Louis de Funès, he told, for two years, on stage, little family stories in a play entitled The Mop. A nod to Gérard Oury's film, The Big Mopwhich brought together the magical duo Bourvil-de Funès, was obvious. Time passes… And in 2023, he returned once again in a one-man show, written by him, on the heavy weight of his surname. An incurable wound for him because never, during his life, Louis de Funès, his ancestor, would have had the strength to repeat the confession of the ignoble Don Sallust: « I recognize this child, I recognize my wrongs, my children, those of others, yours if you want… ».
