A Gibson from 1997

Saturday, November 16, during the auction of this Gibson with a historic past, the comeback that we thought almost impossible of the enemy brothers of English rock caused the auction to take off on the Web. Indeed, the Silver Sparkle Gibson Les Paul Florentine guitar that Noel Gallagher used for the recording of Oasis’ third album, Be Here Nowreleased in August 1997, was purchased for £226,800. According to the online auction house Propstore, this guitar was custom-made for Noel Gallagher in Gibson’s workshop in 1997. And it was notably strummed during performances at the David Letterman Show as well as to Saturday Night Live in the United States.

« It’s the best guitar in the world »Noel Gallagher proclaimed in an interview with the magazine Spin in 1997. « It’s not one of the best, it’s the best », he added, in order to show the world his attachment to this exceptional Gibson.

Oasis was then at the height of its glory. The group, founded in 1991 in Manchester, then split in 2009, after incessant feuding between the Gallagher brothers, Liam and Noel. They continued their careers separately, until the announcement of the reformation of Oasis last summer.
