Brooklyn Beckham: “I can’t help it if I’m ‘the son of’”

He began his career in modeling, before moving into photography, then into cooking, becoming a chef and owner of a hot sauce brand. Now an entrepreneur at 25, Brooklyn Beckham has often been accused of taking advantage of the fame of his parents, former footballer David Beckham and ex-Spice Girl turned stylist Victoria Beckham, to succeed in business.

However, if this is indeed the case, the Briton feels no guilt. “Of course I’m a ‘son of’. But I can’t do anything about it. I couldn’t change the way I was born,” he explains in the magazine Grazia.

Although he understands why the public may feel irritated by celebrity children nicknamed “nepo babies”, the husband of actress Nicola Peltz tries to ignore the criticism about him. “There will always be people who say stupid things. But as long as you’re doing something that makes you happy and being kind to others, that’s all that matters. Brooklyn even thinks that being considered privileged motivates him to surpass himself: “It makes me work harder, because I tell myself that I’m going to prove these people that they’re wrong.”
