From November 17 to 22, 2024, the Italian Embassy in Rabat is launching the ninth edition of the “World Italian Cuisine Week” in Morocco, under the theme “Mediterranean Diet and Roots Cuisine: Health and Tradition”.
This event, supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, celebrates the authenticity of Italian cuisine while highlighting its link with the Mediterranean diet, recognized by UNESCO for its health benefits and its sustainability model.
This edition offers a varied program in Rabat, Casablanca and Marrakech, aiming to promote Italian flavors and their cultural richness. The opening evening will be held on November 19 at the At Kasr Al Bahr hotel in Rabat, with the collaboration of the Four Seasons Group. During this event, Italian chef Sebastiano Spriveri, together with Dalila Salonia from the Marzapane restaurant in Rome, will offer a menu specially designed for the occasion. A photographic exhibition, “I Racconti delle Radici”, will highlight the evolution of Italian cuisine within expatriate Italian communities, testifying to the role of cuisine in integration and sharing.
At the same time, several charity cooking shows will be organized for children, featuring traditional Italian recipes such as crostata. These workshops will be held in Rabat, Casablanca and Marrakech, in partnership with the Orient Occident and Ali Zaoua Foundations. On November 22, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Morocco will host a conference on Italian gastronomic diversity, followed by a tasting of specialties.
For professionals, a masterclass will be given on November 26 in Casablanca, with African pastry champion Enniri Abdelilah, who will present Italian pastry techniques. This session will be followed by a designer dessert show, accompanied by jazz and Italian soul music.
The Italian Embassy in Rabat and its partners thank all those who support this cultural and gastronomic initiative, which aims to strengthen ties between Morocco and Italy by celebrating the taste and culinary traditions of Italy.
