“States Ladies” until December 1, 2024, is to discover Mary Magdalenedisciple of Jesus, as well as the princesses and queens of the Saint-Denis basilicaphotographed and shown in another day, another light.
Discover the exhibition in the presence of the artist
To discover the work of Véronique Sablery, a conference is proposed to the public on Tuesday, November 12 at 5:30 p.m. The opportunity, for an hour, to listen to Antoine Dauvin, professor of modern history at the University of Caen, specializing in painting by Eustache Résout which inspired the Estates Ladies exhibition. But also to hear Brigitte Poitrenaud-Lamesi, professor emeritus of Italian studies at the University of Normandy who will speak, in particular, about the way in which Mary Magdalene’s hair is represented.
Entrance is free and will allow specialists and amateurs alike to enter the artist’s world, grasp its nuances and learn more historically.
A meeting of ladies
“It is symbolic to have all these women exposed in the Abbaye aux Dames where Mathilde of Flanders rests,” says Véronique Sablery. The exhibition is composed of photographs, printed on paper and glass.
I like to play with contrasts, between opacity and transparency.
The artist combines the ladies and the flowers that she captures in front of her studio. She also suggests, with words that accompany visitors.
Practical. The exhibition is on display until December 1, 2024.
