At 82 and 90 years old, they are extras on the big screen in the film by Lucien Jean-Baptiste

This shoot was a great experience for us because we discovered the secrets of making a film rejoice Danielle Migeon and Thérèse Gouriou, residents at Espace et vie in Saint-Herblain. The senior services residence was chosen for the film What do we do nowalso filmed in Vendée, in June. Directed by Lucien Jean-Baptiste, with Gérard Darmon and Isabelle Nanty, the film was released on screens at the beginning of October. Danielle Migeon and Thérèse Gouriou recount their experience with humor, a first for these two seniors aged 82 and 90!

Thirteen times the same scene

We were three residents selected to appear in this film. We had to find out if the director liked our faces! exclaims Thérèse Gouriou in a burst of laughter. The two seniors were extras for a whole week in the park and the premises of the residence. I wore pink pants, so people could recognize me s’amuse Danielle Migeon.

They play a small role as residents of a senior residence. We are almost not seen in the film, but the residence is well highlighted add the two apprentice actresses, in a wink. A busy week, at the beginning of June, with the entire film team, and a full truckload of equipment, cameras, booms, control screens, accessories . The two friends came out very tired, especially because of the heat. I redid the same scene thirteen times, and this sequence was not included in the editing regrets Danielle Migeon, a little frustrated.

“A real pay slip”

And we even got paid, €80, with a real pay slip rejoices Thérèse Gouriou. However, in the end, the two extras came out a little disappointed with the result: I was expecting a happy comedy, and in the end it’s a bit of a sad story. It’s not always easy to communicate with professional actors, even to get a photo.

Thérèse Gouriou and Danielle Migeon went to see the film, when it was released in theaters, in a cinema in Atlantis. We saw the film together, paying €15.60, not even a discount for seniors. All this to see a film that disappointed us! Thérèse Gouriou gets carried away.

The two extras will still be able to talk about their experience during the residence’s next open day, on Friday November 15 and Saturday November 16. An opportunity to meet these “senior actresses”, full of life and humor.
