a trailer for the Christmas movie inspired by their romance

Announced last September, this rose-tinted film is revealed with first images, in which winks to the singer’s fans have slipped in.

The American Christmas TV movie inspired by the romance of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce is getting a trailer. The American channel Lifetime unveils the first images of this romantic feature film, which will be broadcast on November 22 across the Atlantic.

Christmas in the Spotlightannounced last September, tells the story of the romantic encounter between Bowyn (Jessica Lord), a pop star, and Drew (Laith Wallschleger), an American football professional. The same jobs as the singer of Blank Space and the Kansas City Chiefs player.

The film is presented by the American press as a fictionalized version of the romantic encounter of the two stars, and the similarities between this fiction and reality do not stop there.

Colloquial summary

As evidenced by the revealed synopsis: Bowyn is “a famous and popular artist who, although she constantly sings songs about love and romantic relationships, has not yet found the man of her life”.

Shortly after attending one of her concerts, Drew “publicly announced that he had fallen under Bowyn’s spell (and) they decided to date.” But trouble looms: “The public is starting to wonder if their feelings for each other are genuine or if it’s a marketing stunt. Pressure is mounting, from the press, from paparazzi, their fans and even their family.”

Like Bowyn’s character, Taylor Swift is known for her lyrics focused on romantic relationships. Her story with Travis Kelce began when he revealed in his podcast that he attended one of the concerts on his current tour and tried to give him his phone number, without success, in the summer of 2023.

Subsequently, the singer attended many of the athlete’s matchesmaking their romance public. And as in the upcoming film, the authenticity of their love story is regularly questioned. Conspiracy theories suggest in particular that their couple would have been assembled from scratch to undermine Donald Trump’s candidacy for the American presidential election.

The trailer presents new winks: Drew’s character wears a jersey flocked with the number 13, Taylor Swift’s lucky number. Also, the two protagonists meet in Bowyn’s private jet; in the first half of 2022, Taylor Swift was heavily criticized for having made 170 private jet flights in the space of six months; a figure that made her the celebrity whose jet had produced the most carbon dioxide.

The American channel Lifetime, a major producer of B-series TV films inspired by celebrities, has already devoted feature films to the journeys of Britney Spears, Aaliyah or even Whitney Houston. In 2018, she broadcast a film inspired by the love story between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.
