A magical birthday in the world of Princess Elsa of Arendelle for Princess Geraldine of Albania
During her birthday party, Princess Geraldine transformed into Princess Elsa and the garden of a hotel in Tirana was declared the Kingdom of Arendelle. Geraldine of Albania is fascinated by the character of Elsa, her favorite princess from the world of Disney. Blonde like her heroine, the identification seems most natural. Especially since the little princess has many traits in common with the character, such as her strength of character, her independence and of course her grace.

Crown Prince Leka, 42, grandson of King Zog I and Queen Geraldine, had planned everything to make this moment unforgettable. Impressive settings were installed to immerse Géraldine’s friends – but also their parents – into the world of the Snow Queen. Even if the party had nothing to compare with other events organized by the royal family, it was also an opportunity to bring together young and old in a less formal setting.
« Géraldine loves the enchanting world of castles and princesses »Crown Prince Leka explains to Hello. Her daughter fits perfectly into the character of Elsa, the daughter of the king of Arendelle, with magical powers. It is “this magical royal spirit that resonates within her”explains Leka, who little by little teaches her daughter the history of her ancestors. The royal family of Albania is cousin to all European royal families through Queen Geraldine, of whom one of her ancestors, Prince John George II of Anhalt-Dessau (1627-1693) was the grandfather of Jean-Guillaume-Friso de Nassau, a Dutch stadtholder who is the common ancestor of the ten monarchs currently reigning in Europe.

The pastry chef of King Zog I’s wedding cake makes Princess Geraldine’s birthday cake
Princess Geraldine wore an icy blue dress reminiscent of her favorite princess, created by local designer Bel Eve. Princess Geraldine, born October 22, 2020, is the daughter of Crown Prince Leka and his ex-wife, Elia. She bears her first name in homage to her great-grandmother, Queen Geraldine, wife of the King of the Albanians. As always, Leka had thought of the smallest details, including symbolic nods to her grandparents. It is the sumptuous birthday cake which evoked the sweet memories of King Zog I and Queen Geraldine.

The wedding cake, decorated with turquoise blue icing, was topped with a castle-shaped cake. Sugar paste elements represented roses, a large bow and even a statuette of Princess Elsa. This cake, commissioned by Sara Event, was made by the pastry chef Reka, a renowned brand in Tirana. Mustafa Reka’s Turkish delights and pastries were known throughout the capital, and King Zog I was one of his regular customers. Today, it is his two great-grandsons who still run the store, whose reputation has never wavered. Reka was so popular with the King of the Albanians that he made the wedding cake for King Zog I and Hungarian Countess Geraldine Apponyi in 1938.
The Hungarian countess, who became queen of the Albanians on this wonderful day, cut the gigantic cake measuring more than two meters using a saber. This symbolic moment was highlighted by the speech of her brother, Count Gyula, while a Gypsy orchestra played traditional tunes in reference to the bride’s origins. In an equally magical but certainly more good-natured atmosphere, Princess Geraldine simply blew out her candle planted at the top of the edible castle.
A bouncy castle, hundreds of balloons, entertainment, numerous gifts and the presence of Géraldine’s friends made this event truly exceptional. Blerta Celibashi, the companion of Crown Prince Leka, immortalized the magnificent smiles of all the guests during the entire event which lasted until nightfall.
