While Dragon Ball Daima is in full broadcast, thanks to the latter, fans are starting to dream again.

Fans want remake!

We can say it, the month of October belongs to Dragon Ball, between the release of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero and that of the new animated series Daima. We can say that the work of the late Akira Toriyama has not finished being talked about, and in fact, some fans are asking for a little more.

Because with the release of Daima and its new artistic direction, the question of a remake of the original anime is put back on the table. Indeed, the first episode of Daima offers us certain reworked plans of the Buu arc brought up to date, mixing the author’s drawing style and that of the 90s anime. Plans that really please fans, who would like to see it in a remake.

A wish that is not new, because when the film Dragon Ball: Super Hero is released in 2022, although the film has divided many fans for many reasons, the first minutes of the feature film put everyone in agreement. Summarizing the story of Son Goku during his time facing the Red Ribbon Army accompanied by traditional 2D animation.

Subsequently, during Japan Expo Sud 2023, Chikashi Kubota, director of animation on the film, confided that he would like to work on a remake of Dragon Ball in the same style as the first minutes of the film.

Can a remake see the light of day?

So, is it possible that a remake of Dragon Ball, its Z version or both will see the light of day? Well it all seems complicated, the first reason is Daima. For a remake to come out, the series would have to end to avoid one overshadowing the other, moreover, we do not know when Daima should end. And we shouldn’t forget Dragon Ball Super, the anime has still not given any sign of life, having been on hiatus since 2018.

The question of a remake therefore remains complex, namely that other mangas see their fans demanding that it be brought up to date such as Naruto, with the release of the advertising video for the 20th anniversary of the anime, two years ago. We can also mention Bleach, which recently received a short advertising video to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the anime as well as the release of Part 3 of the final arc. However, there is hope when we see that the One Piece anime will be entitled to a remake by Wit Studio even though the work is not yet finished.
