“It sparked a lot of reactions, my fellow actors took it quite badly”

Almost a month after the broadcast of the controversial sketch, the controversy that occurred in the “Grand Cactus” continues to be talked about. Little flashback. On Thursday September 19, for the first issue of the new season of the RTBF parody show, Cécile Giroud and Damien Gillard offer a reinterpretation of “3SEX” by Indochine and Rahim Redcar (formerly Christine and the Queens).

A sequence that is quickly making the rounds on social networks. Several million views on Facebook and Instagram. The comments are quite virulent, with the sketch being described as “disgusting and transphobic”. An outcry which will push RTBF and “Le Grand Cactus” to react by apologizing. It must be said that behind the scenes, the sketch divided and cost the partnership with the Pride of Liège.

Today, the controversy is part of the past after a speech by Jérôme de Warzée, but that does not prevent certain personalities from addressing the case. This is particularly the case for Kody, in the interview he gave us for our TV News supplement. Extract.

A sequence from “Grand Cactus” was recently deemed transphobic. What do you think of this controversy?

It sparked a lot of reactions. My fellow actors had a pretty bad experience of it. They received a wave of negative comments on social media. They never wanted to hurt anyone. It’s a fairly complex situation. “Le Grand Cactus” is above all a comedy show. We make fun of everything, without ever being mean or irreverent. RTBF organized a meeting with representatives of the LGBTQIA+ community league, and it emerged that this sequence can be traumatic for some young people. It is important to show empathy. This dialogue was necessary.

What impact did this bad buzz have on Jérôme de Warzée?
