The New York Times makes a nice statement in La Grande-Motte

On September 10, the prestigious American daily newspaper ” New York Times” , has put in the spotlight The Grande Motte in a complete article devoted to his unique architecture and its living environmentcalling it a “Utopian city inspired by ancient pyramids”. The appeal of the 2024 Olympic Games has already given “destination ” new international visibility, and this paper may perhaps offer the desire to American public become (re)discover the city in the years to come.

An architecture that leaves its mark

In its article, the American newspaper explores theatypical architecture of the city, the work of its chief architect Jean Balladurwhile highlighting its natural heritage and its art of living. We can read there thehistory of the seaside resort traced meticulously, since its creation in the 60s. The inspirations that led to the construction of this unique urban complex are also highlighted. Enough to see your immediate environment with new eyes and, surely, to break away a little from the habit.

“The Oasis City”

The article is based on a series of photographs made by talented Parisian photographers Laurent Kronental and Charly Broyezarchitecture specialists. Their project, entitled The Oasis Citygathers 72 film photographs highlighting not only the futuristic architecture of La Grande Motte, but also its natural environment, notably through the Etang de l’Or, the marshes and the Petite Camargue.

Having supported photographers for four years, the Tourist Office has contributed significantly to the realization of this project through a three-stage partnership: the distribution of a photographic series in the international press, the publication of an art book next spring and a photographic exhibition intended to travel around the world to promote the seaside resort.

The City’s promotion strategy, both nationally and internationally, has been based for a decade on a strong cultural approach that favors collaborations with artists and creators, who act as ambassadors. This media coverage thus helps to strengthen the image of the City of the Pyramids as a cultural destination.
