The American rock group unveiled its new singer, Emily Armstrong, during a concert on Thursday evening and announced the upcoming release of an album, the first since the death of its leader Chester Bennington.

It took seven years for the band Linkin Park to find a new voice and start over. In 2017, their singer Chester Bennington took his own life, after a long battle with alcohol, drugs and a tumultuous past. The band unveils its new voice Emily Armstrong. The singer, from the band Dead Sara, asserts herself by covering some of the band’s legendary songs like Crawling, Waiting for the end or Bleedin Out. On Thursday, September 5, the band announced their return during a concert event in Los Angeles broadcast live. Linkin Park confirmed the new album and the tour for the end of the year, all accompanied by a new single The Emptiness MachineThe album scheduled for November 15th will be called From Zero.

A new drummer

Emily Armstrong isn’t the only one joining the rock band. Colin Brittain, a songwriter and producer for G Flip, Illenium and One OK Rock, is picking up the drum sticks. According to a press release, the former members have worked with a number of musicians and “found a special kinship with Armstrong and Brittain”.

Active since the late 1990s before exploding in 2003 with the album Meteor – the tubes Numb or Breaking the habit -, Linkin Park had not recorded a studio album for seven years since the death of its lead singer Chester Bennington at age 41 in July 2017.

Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix and Joe Hahn and their two new members have scheduled six dates around the world between September 11 and December 11, including Los Angeles, New York, London, Seoul, and Bogota. Tickets will go on sale September 7.
