The filmmaker had been battling lymphoma since 2012. He had received a bone marrow donation in 2013, which had not gone optimally, as he recounted a few years later.

The success of the series “Le Petit Nicolas”

Screenwriter and director, Laurent Tirard has given birth to a dozen feature films, some of which have been hugely successful. With over 5.5 million admissions, Le Petit Nicolas, adapted from the novels by René Goscinny and Sempé, is his biggest box-office success. Released in 2009, the film in which we find Kad Merad, Valérie Lemercier and Maxime Godart in the title role had a sequel, Les vacances du Petit Nicolas, in 2014. 2.4 million fans rushed to the dark rooms to enjoy the film.
