“I have always said that I will see my duty through to the end.” This Monday, September 2, 2024, more than a month and a half after submitting his resignation to the President of the Republic, Gabriel Attal traveled to Hauts-de-Seine as part of his duties as Prime Minister. On the occasion of the start of the school year, he went to meet the students of the Jean de la Fontaine school in Issy-les-Moulineaux. The young 34-year-old millionaire answered questions from the CM2 children on current political affairs, but also on his ties with Emmanuel Macron. “Do you know who will be Prime Minister?” asked one schoolboy, who is very aware of the crisis that has been shaking the government since the early legislative elections in July. “That is a real question that many French people are asking themselves, but I don’t have the answer,” retorted Gabriel Attal.

But the students did not stop there, and wanted to know a little more about the behind the scenes of French power. One little girl asked him about Emmanuel Macron’s attitude towards her: “How is the President with you?” A very pertinent question when we know that the relations between the head of state and the resigning head of government have been described as “tense”, “cold” and even “polar” in the media in recent weeks. “Um… We have real working relationships, respect too, recognition, admiration.
