Sigourney Weaver confirms she will return in upcoming films Avatar in the role of Kiri.
When you think of Sigourney Weaver, you inevitably see the face of Ellen Ripley in the various Alien. However, even though Ellen Ripley is indeed in Alien : Romulushis character should never really come back in the flesh. It must be said that since the end of the 2000s it has been the saga Avatar who signed her real comeback in majesty to the cinema. As Sigourney Weaver prepares to receive an honorary Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival for her body of work, she explained to Deadline the outlines of his expected return to the franchise Avatar :
“I just finished working on Avatar 3 earlier this month, and I think the franchise is going to continue to grow and become more impactful. […] Avatar 4 and 5 are written. We already know what to expect. And they’re going to be very good. But James is still finishing [la pré-production] 3. It’s great to be able to follow the path of these films. […] I think I can say it, I will be in Avatar 4 and 5.”
While we have known for a while thatAvatar 5 will take place far from Pandora (on a planet that we know well), Kiri will therefore probably be there, and therefore slightly spoils the rest of the events.
James Cameron had explained that he wanted to explore “different cultures” from those in the first two films. Avatar including in the Ash & Fire the “ash people” – fiery versions of the Na’vi. He chose them to add “another angle” as enemies because Cameron had previously put the Na’vi on the “good side” and the humans on the “bad side”, and wanted to tone down the Manichean side of the work.
