Portuguese authorities arrested a 29 -year -old man accused of attempted murder and several assaults, following a European arrest warrant issued by Luxembourg, according to an official statement published about a week ago.
Contact learned that the alleged crime had taken place five years ago at Café Ribatejo in Windhof, Luxembourg. The victims were the owner of the establishment and two members of his family. The suspect, an immigrant from Braga in the Grand Duchy, fled to Portugal and was only recently captured by the Portuguese police in the “northern part of the country”, said the official statement of the organization.
“We have never had an argument or a lively conversation,” said the owner of the establishment, Filipe V., to Contact. The restaurant can serve meals for around fifty people. It is a typically Portuguese establishment located on the highway.
In addition to the Portuguese, “Luxembourg, Belgians, French and Dutch people also attend the establishment”, in particular “truck drivers who park in the parking lot of the service station” next to the restaurant, explains an employee.
Regarding the attempted murder, the boss, Filipe V., affirms that it was a sudden act and that the employee had never revealed any problematic history which would have allowed him to guess such outcome.
According to the official declaration of the Portuguese police, “the suspect hit his boss several times in the head with a glass of beer, causing him multiple skull wounds and scratches in the rib cage”.

According to an official source from the Portuguese Attorney General’s Office, “the detainee is in a prison while waiting for the continuation of the procedure”. It should soon be extradited to Luxembourg to be tried.

“I just want justice to be done. After five years, I will not let this matter go unnoticed. It could have been much worse, ”says Filipe V.
According to the official declaration published by the authorities, a work colleague tried to defend his boss, but he was also struck by several shots which caused him bruises at the head, in the cervical column, on shoulders and hands, making him unfit for work.
During assaults, the detainee also uttered several death threats. The case is in progress before the Guimarães Court of Appeal.
