His fans couldn’t miss it. Gabilou is back on stage. It’s this evening at the Grand theater of the Maison de la culture with a new show entitled “Gabilou Forever”. Forever because it’s been more than sixty years of career and success for the Tahitian crooner. He will be on stage with his partner Moeata but also his daughter Hianau who was interviewed live by Jules Bourgat on our channels at midday.
Interview :
“Gabilou now has a repertoire of 2,000 titles, a career spanning over 60 years, countless concerts including two at the Olympia in Paris and now a show at the age of 81, your father will never stop ?
-No, he always said it. He will end his life on the stage. This is what has always made him tick so I think that as long as he is on stage and as long as he sings he will stay with us for a long time.
-We know that he has been paralyzed in one vocal cord since 1995, is it becoming difficult for him at 81 years old?
-It’s not as easy as before. But we will say that he needs to prepare a little more in advance. He repeats a little more often. Generally it’s two to three times a week, once with the orchestra and twice on your own.
--We often say that you are Gabilou’s little hands who manage his career, how do we manage to last over time and above all continue to release records and create shows?
-I think it is the passion, the love for the life that surrounds us. He draws inspiration from everyday life, from the lives of the children in his life; It is the passion that keeps him going over time and also the encouragement of his fans and the people who love him.
-On the program this evening, 6 musicians, 3 singers, around thirty dancers including you, what awaits the spectators, is it a kind of American show or a family show but on a large scale?
-It’s an American show. Like when he did his shows in America. Most of the songs will be in French and English. There are plenty of surprises in the show too. He also prepared lots of little jokes. In general he takes comedians he knows. But now he’s going to make his jokes on his own.
-Thank you Hianau for being with us this afternoon… We hope you have a good show this evening. “Gabilou Forever” is at 7:30 p.m. at the Grand theater of the Maison de la culture. »
