French shucker championship, open to the public: Free oyster tests and tastings

The final of the 2025 French scalers’ championship will be held in on February 4. Open to the public, you will be able to attend the different events and taste oysters and seafood.

You consider yourself an expert in openingoysters ? It is you that your loved ones call on, during the end-of-year holidays, when it comes toopen the dozen oysters ? Wait until you see the professionals to work! Next Tuesday, February 4, the final of the 2025 French Scalers Championship, and the event is open to the public.

To attend these tests organized, among others, by the national shellfish farming committee, Ecaille (the national union of fish scalers and scalers), the OPEF (the organization of fish scalers in France) and the UMIH (the union of trades and of the hospitality industries), head to the Café Français on Place de la Bastille, from 2 p.m.

In all, these are 20 candidatesalready champions and vice-champions of their own region, who will compete to win the national medal. On the program, three tests will allow us to decide between them: speed of opening oysters, “surprise” event, and creation of a seafood buffet on the theme, this year, of Valentine’s Day.
