The Star Academy opens (finally) overseas! After a notable and fair intervention by the actress Firmine Richard last Saturday, expressing indignation at the impossibility of voting for Overseas Territories, TF1 decided to open its votes by telephone to residents of the Antilles, Guyana, La Réunion, Mayotte, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy for Saturday’s final which will pit Marine and Ebony against each other.
As reported The Parisianfrom this Tuesday evening, more than 2.2 million additional people will be able to vote for their favorite finalist following an emergency voting procedure for the overseas territories, deployed by the channel. Votes will only be possible by telephone and not by SMS as in mainland France, the fault of “a procedure that takes too long to put in place in such a time frame restricted”reports The Parisian.
The Star Academy being broadcast delayed on the local channels of the DROM, TF1 had until now never made votes possible for these overseas territories, but the possibility of following the program live, via the TF1+ platform in particular, changes the given. Fans of the program will be able to vote from home for the Lille Marine, 24 years old, or the Ilo-dionysian Ebony, 20 years old, who will compete for victory this Saturday.
