Anderlecht: Verschaeren has staked his future

After a sad 0/9 in the league, Anderlecht recorded an important victory in the semi-final first leg of the Croky Cup against Antwerp (1-0).

During this meeting, several players scored points. We think in particular of Tristan Degreef and Yari Verschaeren. The latter came out to the applause of the public upon his exit, and was even named man of the match by most of the country’s newspapers.

Not interested in leaving in January

The question now is whether the Anderlecht number 10 played well in order to prove that he has his place in Anderlecht or to arouse the interest of foreign clubs? According to Nieuwsblad, the 23-year-old playmaker does not really want to leave the Mauves in January. He is quite satisfied with his current situation and is not interested in an adventure in a country like Turkey (Trabzonspor was interested, editor’s note).

For its part, the RSCA management does not intend to push Verschaeren towards the exit this month, but a decision will have to be made next summer, because the player trained at Neerpede will enter the last year of his contract.

Not enough

Since the start of his career, Verschaeren has scored 28 goals and provided 29 assists in 207 appearances. A bit low numbers for a player who wears number 10 for the biggest club in the country.
